Nurse Lorenna Fields is drawn to a blind patient searching for his past. But as his memories return, will there be a place for her in his future?

Lorenna Fields has always taken her job at Chicago's Mercy Hospital seriously, determined never to become personally involved with her patients. But when a mysterious man with eyes like onyx is admitted after a shipwreck on Lake Michigan, she develops a connection with him that she can’t deny.

Slowly her patient regains consciousness, but to Renna’s dismay he has lost both his sight and his memory. Dubbed “Mr. Blackeyes” by her, the two build a strong, trusting friendship as they search for clues to his past. But part of her dreads the day of his recovery, convinced that his memories will take him away from her and his regained sight will reveal a secret about herself that Renna has been trying hard to hide.

In Unexpected Love, Andrea Kuhn Boeshaar continues the dramatic saga of the McCabe family that she began in Unwilling Warrior and Uncertain Heart.

When I started to read this book, it seemed as thought I had already read it, I knew what was going to happen, but I know I hadn't read it because it just came out, but I have read the first two, so I guess they just keep sticking in my memory. Lorenna Fields is a nurse back in 1866 and lives in Chicago and she had nursed in the civil war and saw everything, so nothing bothered her.  One of her patients was a man that had been found in the water and he or no one else knew who he was.

I feel like Unexpected Love outshines them both. It's full of meaning and depth and takes the reader on a roller coaster ride back into Historical Chicago, and ends up at unexpected emotional feelings along the way. Through Ms. Boeshaar's seasoned and skilled hand, this novel, as with her previous novels, comes to life.

Unexpected Love by Andrea Boeshaar is the third book in the Seasons of Redemption series. All three of these books are amazing. The covers are beautiful and the stories fall together really nicely. Its great to have a series that incorporates new characters but still keeps the ones in the previous book in the story. Its really irksome to have a series book not even have the same characters at all so this is a great series.

Lorenna Fields is competent nurse, loving, caring, kind and prone to emotional attachment to her patients.  There was a particular patient who she nursed who was not only blind, but had amnesia.  As a single woman, she felt captivated by this handsome man and very glad he could not see her very ugly birthmark.  Soon the patient regains his memory and turns out to be a missing sailor.  Renna and the captain begin to have feelings for each other, but the captain also begins to regain his ey

"Unexpected Love" is a historical romance (with the emphasis on the romance) set in 1866 in Chicago and Milwaukee. The romance was predictable; I never doubted they'd get together and it hit all the common beats. However, the "romance novel misunderstanding" was nicely set up and more realistic than most: Renna couldn't believe that a 'playboy' rich man who could have any woman he wanted would be interested in a middle class girl like her who had an ugly birthmark on her cheek. "Mr. Blacke

Lorenna Fields is a nurse who has a blind patient in her ward.  She has determined that she will not become personally involved with any of her patients, ever.  However, as life goes, she is drawn to that one patient with beautiful, onyx colored eyes.  Eyes that have a story to tell.  Eyes that can't tell her what he saw or where he's from.  So, as Lorenna takes care of this mysterious patient she secretly calls her patient "Mr. Blackeyes."   Lorenna's patient, Mr. Blackeyes, begins to regain
